Tactone is a nonprofit organization committed to transforming music education and creative expression into an inclusive, accessible experience for individuals of all abilities. We believe music is a universal language - one that should never be limited by physical, sensory, or cognitive barriers

A message from our CEO

In 2022, I began working with DeafBlind students in a residential program after several years of work as a music teacher. I quickly noticed the disparity between DeafBlind individuals’ access to music and sighted and hearing individuals, and knew something had to be done. Several DeafBlind students enjoyed placing their hands or heads on speakers when music as playing, indicating that they sought haptic feedback from the output. This is where the idea for TacTone was born.

What if, instead of simply enjoying music through vibration, everyone could make music without barriers? Vibration-based instruments and associated equipment does not only benefit DeafBlind musicians, but also provides access for musicians with sensory sensitivities, physical and neurological conditions requiring them to limit audiovisual input, or those who are simply looking for different methods of haptic engagement. TacTone strives to eliminate any barrier to music imaginable.

After initiating product invention in 2023, I welcomed Holly Soper on board, who aided me in establishing the company as a Nonprofit. Shortly after, Rose Cataudella began working as our Chief Product Officer to further the development of instruments and equipment. Since 2023, we have welcomed Elle Robinson as our Business Development Manager, Eli Trentalange and Joli Reynolds as our Education Coordinators, and Mis Kennedy as our Design Engineer.

TacTone has grown our connections by presenting and participating in several conferences across the nation. We have attended the international CHARGE Syndrome Conference, the Early Connections Conference, and most recently, the Perkins CVI Conference.

Holly recently transitioned to the role of Research Coordinator in order to further this department. In 2025, TacTone conducted research at the CHARGE Syndrome Conference. We plan to expand on this and add additional studies in order to aid in product development.

Eli and Joli continue to develop curriculum for private and classroom music instructions using our products. Once published, this curriculum will allow teachers everywhere to easily include all types of learners into each lesson without modification.

Elle continues to coordinate media outreach, and additionally has taken over business development. This allows TacTone to apply for grant funding with ease, as one person oversees these duties.

Rose and Mis work together on developing and engineering our products. Recently, TacTone has started working with a manufacturer! More on that soon.

I could not be prouder of how this company has grown! Each day I am newly inspired by the people that work on this project with me. I sincerely hope that TacTone is able to benefit many different types of musicians and bring access to all.
